They also don't need the headaches from already disgruntled Sprint customers. Don't forget either that their stock and profitability will take a huge hit should they decide to buy out Sprint.

I have read that Qwest is interested in Sprint's fiber operations. That's what Bankers are saying. Qwest has said that they haven't ruled out buying a company to increase business. Don't remember the way it was worded. One of the major shareholders in Sprint wanted the company to spin off/sell their fiber operations. If Qwest does buy it, I expect it to be mostly a stock deal, since they only have $1 billion in cash, and it would probably hurt them if they spent most of their money. So, I wouldn't be surprised if we see Qwest and Sprint helping each other this year. |
