[SRS] My opaque plastic cover for LNB dissappeared!

My opaque plastic cover for the add on arm for my Direcway dish that controls my Directv disappeared. Everything is still working at this point. I don't have any idea how long it has been missing, but there is snow on the ground so it would be awfully hard to find at this point. Could anyone help me find a replacement cover for the add on LNB. I am not sure which kit I used originally it was either B or C. Thanks for any help you can give.

Best Regards,
Chis

Even though that LNB has the more expensive (RF-shielded) guts Chris, they still use the same cheap old plastic window. They're not sufficiently UV-resistant, yours likely cracked from dry rot and simple fell off. It won't be reusable, even if you DO actually find it in one piece.

I'm afraid the (professional) solution will probably be to purchase a new DirecDuo-compatible LNB. If it helps, my LNBs for 101 and 119 are kinda white. The one for 110 is gray.

A plastic cover to cover the whole LNB body? Never heard of it as an engineer. You don't need it. Heh. And you don't need to buy a new LNB... sorry, grohgreg.

What kind of engineer would that be? Every DirecDuo LNB has a PVC case, AND a translucent plastic cover over the feedhorn. Over time, UV deterioration turns it opaque and brittle. Without that cover - debris and moisture will enter, signal degradation follows.

Not talking about the feed. I'm talking about the LNB.

I take it then you've never engineered one of these LNBs

I've seen them, but you're right. These are not commercial LNBs.

A modified reply to my last one, after seeing the pix of an LNB here. You don't need to buy a new one. Put plastic wrap over the feed opening (try wax paper to see if that works) and put a rubber band over it. No, I've never done this, so experiment first by comparing signal stength with and without the covering.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to check my post. I have been really bogged down the last couple of days. I am almost positive I am using either 101 or 119 and the cover was white on the LNB. Do you know where I might be able to get a new replacement cover. Can you still get the DirecDuo-compatible LNB's? Do you know if they are different in anyway since they have to attach to the arms that came with the kit. Thanks a lot for the reply.

Best Regards,
Chris
