INCOMING User name = xxx@q.com Server name: pop3.live.com port 995 Use secure connection: SSL do NOT check "use secure authentication"
OUTGOING Server name: smtp.live.com port 25 User name = xxx@q.com Use secure connection: TLS if available |

1 edit | Thanx Mo. Just because Qwest doesn't "support" a certain application doesn't mean you can't take the info that is available and figure it out. Nice work. Appreciated. I think the port #'s should be incoming 110 and outgoing 995 though. Could you verify that for us?
Peace. |

2 edits | reply to Bill5309 Incoming ports for POP3 email protocol: port 110 (insecure) port 995 (SSL)
Incoming ports for IMAP4 protocol: port 143 (insecure) port 993 (SSL)
Outgoing ports for SMTP message submission: port 25 (security optional, depending upon server configuration; originally intended for message transfer.) port 465 (SSL) port 587 (TLS, if supported by the message submission server.)
NOTE: Not all services offer all ports, protocols, or security (exept the secure ports requiring SSL: 465, 993, and 995).

1 edit | reply to molasseskat said by molasseskat:Just thought I'd post this to help anyone out who might use Qwest/Windows Live with Thunderbird I just signed up with Qwest yesterday, and hate having different inboxes for different accounts. So this also works great with Outlook! Is there any way that a hotmail account can be set up as a pop3 account? It would seem that it would be running off the same "live" servers as the Qwest account. And thanks OP! - sheureka |

 | reply to molasseskat Should this work with a hotmail address on Qwest/window live account?
I lost all my q.com addresses associated with my qwest/msn account. I'm not going back to the q.com addresses. They seem too proprietary.

if your hotmail address is properly registered as the PRIMARY ACCOUNT on your QWEST/WINDOWS LIVE service, then YES, it should work
@q.com email addys have a 90 day expiration period after your DSL QWEST SERVICE is DISCONTINUED or TERMINATED
if within the 90 day period it is not RE-REGISTERED as a PRIMARY/SECONDARY account on a QWEST/WINDOWS LIVE account it can not be used again after 120 days
after that, anybody can sign it up as their own |
