 | Joel Johnson is a jackass It wasn't his show. So he doesn't get to set the agenda. He pulled the same stuff 60 minutes does when they ambush a target and then do everything possible to slant the item their way. |

 | It might not be his show, but it was the perfect venue to bring up the topic of debate. A) It's a tech show B) The parent company of the show is the part at hand C) Whom else to debate it with and get another view than someone in the field with a tv show? To me, while the guy did this unexpectedly, it's no more different than a person deciding one day to go ask a boss for a raise. It wasn't in the boss's agenda to deal with that, but part of being the boss (or in this case having a show), is knowing how to deal with the things that happen. IE gadget doesn't work, people have questions. It's all intertwined. |

 | reply to fAcEtIOUs And what's wrong with the 60 minute approach? How do you think 60 minutes CATCHES fraudsters? I mean, if AT&T has nothing to hide, then why can't there be a frank open discussion about it? -- Relgion and Politics don't mix! | reply to fAcEtIOUs Ah yes... You again.
I find it amusing that you post an exact opposite opinion as everyone else in every single thread you post in. Always gives me a good chuckle. |

While he may feel cool by upstaging his hosts by going off script, its not his show to spout off on. Doesn't matter what I think of the subject material.
If he wants to speak off on AT&T or the NSA, then go get some funding and start his own show and he can speak until the wheels fall off the camera dollies.
Having a strong opinion about something is not a license to be rude. |

 | Very good. Now AT&T also has the right to tell this guy what to say. Notice the word GUEST. Is that how you treat guests in your home, tell them what to say? Must be a fun place, how can I score an invite? |

Johnson admitted he didn't want to discuss what he was invited there for. If I was the producer, the interview would have ended and Johnson would have been escorted from the property. -- Internet News My BLOG My Web Page |

If I invite a GUEST over for dinner and he starts spouting off about how ugly my wife is, he certainly has the right to speak, however, I can exercise the right to boot him from my house.
I am not suppressing his right to speak nor putting words in his mouth, just eliminating his discourteous behavior from my home. He can say all he wants......just somewhere else. |

 | reply to ricep5 I agree, you have the right to show them the door if you find their behavior unacceptable in your home. You don't have the right, however, to invite them into your home and then tell them how to behave. Only Dad gets to say "As long as you are under my roof".
The problem is, AT&T wants to have their cake and eat it too. By calling someone a guest on their show, they are implying that the guest is not an employee of AT&T, and that the guest's opinions are their own. Telling them what to say at that point is bull*. If they want an infomercial they can hire actors like everyone else, and quit pretending it is a technology show with guest experts. |

That is what the disinvitation reinforces, if it comes to that. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

 | reply to NormanS That's AT&T's choice also. They don't have to air what this guy says. He tells the online world what happened. Anyone else that appears on their show has no credibility to those in the know, the only ones that might have watched in the first place. Honesty is the best policy. If your wife isn't attractive, don't hold a beauty contest in your house. Either you won't like the outcome, or no one else will believe the results. |
