| taking a T1 off (at 1.5Mbps), reduces the speed from 6M to 4.5M.
here are some options from a Qwest reseller for 4.5M...
1 yr ... 1,695.00/month + free install + free router
2 yr ... 1,493.00/month + free install + free router
3 yr ... 1,461.00/month + free install + free router
With these options you can upgrade at any time to a higher speed and the reseller will continue to provide the appropriate router. Just so I'm clear, the reseller retains title to the router -- you can use it, but it's not your asset.
Realize that with these dedicated connections, we don't have to say "up to" some speed level, and we don't have to say that speeds could vary based on "conditions." You would have a dedicated connection to a Tier One network backbone, so the speed and stability is consistently high, regardless of what other folks in your area are doing. As T1s are specially engineered data circuits, they also get priority relative to maintenance and support. This is not DSL signaling riding on a voice grade line which would be appropriate for your home.

I can do $340 per 1.5 Mbps T1. You lease your router seperately co-terminus. Figure another $15-30/mo. I can't take anything under a 36 month term. Qwest would be the carrier. This price includes all taxes as well.
You are going to need good business credit to pursue this.

From talking with another forum member it sounds like an issue with this being a residential location instead of business. Sounds like I am going to have to tell Verizon (when they install the phone lines for the new construction) to set things up for at least 4 T-lines. Hopefully then we won't have problems finding a company to run a T line to residential. Qwest may not do it. |

| The price will go up significantly though. I can do an AT&T reseller for $1,550 without router for a 3.0 meg connection.
With router, the cost goes up to $1,641.
Free install for both if 3 yr term.

| I have had some *well-qualified* customers looking to have a T-1 line installed into a home office. I've been told they wouldn't do it and we had to go with other alternatives.
I've also seen several other resellers post similar experiences. However, I will keep that information in mind for future sales as some of my best prices are often through Qwest resellers. |

If Qwest know it is residentail they usually will kick the order back, however if they don't know it can go through
I have sold a few Qwest T1s to residences, never had any kicked back however I know of others in my office having deals kicked back
You never know if you don't try, and if it get's kicked back that early there probably won't be a cancellation fee

Unless you mean the provider paying the cancellation fee to the subscriber which would be nice but never going to happen. |

| the issue really isn't if Qwest will or won't. the issue is to disclose to the client that there is a jeopardy that Qwest might or might not fulfill the order. If the client is in a hurry ... if some project has a deadline, if staff are being hired or if they are subcontracting for some larger purpose, and the order is canceled two weeks later, then the timeline starts all over again and the financials of the next best deal might queer the whole project. As reps, we have a responsibility to qualify for residential/commercial, and if it's residential and the choice is sourced on Qwest then we have an obligation to warn the client that the deal might tank. It is not acceptable to suddenly reveal to the client two or three weeks into the project, "sorry bud, can't do it for that price, see ya." |
