I agree with what you said about, "I'm very suspicious that this speed degradation is deliberate". Verizon DSL is supposedly a "dedicated line", unlike Optimum Online where if someone on your block is downloading heavily, that can limit your speed. Everyday I notice from about 5:00pm - 12:00am my speed deteriorates significantly. It happens like clockwork. I know it is deliberate. That time frame is because people get home from work/school and go on the internet. Before & after those times, my speed is is at its most optimal. Luckily though, 90% of the time I can simply get my total download speed back up to normal by downloading a second file simultaneously, instead of only downloading one file. If not for that, I would seriously switch to another ISP, even if it means paying more. I rather pay more to not get snubbed. |
