I'd like to know what the speeds are however... OK, so a silly question, everyone, it seems, gets all upset about internet access pricing. The airlines are willing to provide 1 day at most of service for the cost of a month?
KaChing...thank god for business travelers with expense accounts.
Does this mean we can finally use our cell phones, or do we need to get IP telephony providers to make conducting business on the plane a reality?
Either way, good riddance to the VZ-airline tethered cell phones!!!

It's like when the airline came out with the AIR Phone, (something to try to stay ahead of the competition) how many actually used the air phone, befor cell phone, NOT MANY because of the cost. and this will be the same way, most-private person on pleasure travel) will not pay $10.00-$15.00 just to send a text message, "WISH you were here or hello I'am flying 91,021 feet at Mach 9 while typing this and by the time you get this i will be there,

| reply to RadioDoc said by RadioDoc :Speeds should be in the megabit range. Their earlier technology is merely a cellular repeater which runs at 9.6 kilobits (the old cellular data spec). Something about the story is not right though. I can't see them using "3 MHz" for this...especially since it uses CDMA EVDO for the air-to-ground link. Maybe 3Mbps and the original author (or his source) was confused? |
