| $80.00 for a CPU cooler.
Any suggestions? I've been looking at the coolermaster aquagate S1. Any other suggestions? I'd like to stick to a cheap watercooling setup as it will keep the rest of my case cooler.
I am open to other suggestions though. (Sound makes no difference to me.) -- Cædite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius. |

| I never liked water cooling system. It requires a good workmanship, required constant monitoring for pump and leakage, if you use it to cool only the CPU, it is an overkill. If you use it to cool other components such as GPU, HDs and CPU, it is a bitch to install and it is a bitch to uninstall if something goes wrong.
It does, however look cool and grant you some sort of bragging rights and that is about it.
Bottom line, I don't recommend it. I don;t even do it even my customers are willing to pay for it. -- I used to be indecisive, now I am not sure. |

| reply to Digital There really isn't any point to water cooling. Many setups does fine on just air. Don't forget the extra electricity for the pump and extra maintenance to make sure the amount of liquid is okay.
Here is an idea if you really want the best in cooling »www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=760051 -- anidb.net - Anime Collection |

| My only "problem" with expensive cooling solutions, is that usually they are only needed for over-clocking. Now, there is nothing wrong with that, but then consider, if you are paying $80 (and in many cases, more!) you may be spending more money for the cooling solution, than it would cost to buy the next faster CPU or so, up the line, with a stock cooling solution!
To me, if you are going to o/c...great, but you do need to factor in the cost versus benefit: If I can o/c for free, or at a very low additional cost, fine, but if I have to pay enough to have bought a faster cpu in the first place???? -- ...something is happening here but you don't know what it is...do you, Mr. Jones? |

| reply to Digital That's true. I've got an AMD Athlon X2 5000+ that's already hit 6400+ speeds and I know it has more in it, it's just heat that is holding me back at this point. (I'm hitting 58°C at full load. :-/)
I might get a Scythe Ninja. (Just like the one I have on my other setup.) The water cooling setup is still an idea to me at this point as it will last me through many CPU upgrades / etc. The other option I've been pondering is the Coolermaster Hyper 212 w/ an upgraded 120mm fan ... -- Cædite eos. | reply to Digital The Thermalright IFX-14 with backside cooler is probably your most extreme cooling solution:

| reply to Digital I read some more about the Tuniq 120 and they state that it doesn't have the mounting bracket for an AMD x2 - so I'll be buying the Ninja tomorrow. -- Cædite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius. |

Don't forget the extra electricity for the pump and extra maintenance to make sure the amount of liquid is okay. Where I used to live, I could have got away with getting an improvement by doing only air cooling.
However, where I am now, trying to overclock on air is an exercise in pure futility. The room simply heats up too quickly to enable stability at even the most modest o/c. |

Yup, if your doing water cooling in your PC, it's best to buy the parts individually and put together your own system. Kits and cheap components will generally give you worse temps than stock air would. |

Swiftech, Koolance are 2 of the higher end companies. |
