There are power ports in the "premium" section of coach on many United planes. American is probably the same. Can't remember for sure since I rarely fly on AA.

read the powerport section. not all seats in coach do but some. you can also check the configuration. to see the where the ports are.

I was actually on an AA flight this past Sunday, and each row (throughout the plane) had 3 cigarette lighter style plugs, one on one side of the aisle and 2 on the other. They were under the seat. I don't normally fly American, so I'm not sure if that is common, or unique to that plane.

so one side of the aisle had one plug for 2 seats, and the other side had 2 plugs for 3 seats.

That would be on the MD-80s, the bulk of American's domestic fleet.

Any transcon or flight lasting more than 2.5 hours should have a port. Newer Boeing MD-8x and 767/757/747 typically will have them. Not all 737's will have them. They didn't install them until the 400 series and some older 737's are used for short hops where power ports aren't practical. Older MD-8x models acquired in the TWA merger may not have them either.

Airbus A310 won't have them but later A32x models will. I don't think AA flies the A340.

No Bombardier or Embraer CRJ/ERJ will have them. Only United and US Airways have the EMB-170/175/190 and they do have them.

Are you talking about American? They don't fly 747s or any other model 737 than the 737-800. They don't fly any Airbus other than the A300, no A310 or A320 are in their fleet. I'm pretty sure almost all the MD-80s have the new interiors by now, including the cigarette-style power ports.

The 737s have a handful of powerports in coach, and at every seat in first. You can see here:

I also wanted to mention US Airways and United do not own any of the Embraer planes. Those are all owned by other airlines that contract (usually under Express or Connection). jetBlue flies EMB-190s, they were the launch customer.

Not true. Every seat in First class has powerports, but there are rows in coach that have powerports as well.

Ok, there most definitely will not be more than 100 people with laptops on the same flight lol, I've never seen that before on a commercial jet airliner...

I was speaking generically. I referenced the former TWA since AA bought them and they were heavy MD-8x users.

Republic/Chautauqua use the EMB's under the United Express/US Airways Express banners. "Have" is merely a semantic for "operating".

Every carrier outfits differently, it was a response based on my recent travels.
