Just a guess here but it would be logical for them to deploy this instead of DSL. A lot less expensive than copper considering all the costs of upgrading a RT or Co and conditioning a subscriber line for DSL. Also it can be rolled out to folks who do not have a phone line with them.

Don't forget that DSL is very distance sensitive: to get 6mb/sec down the customer needs to be on good copper and less than 8-9 kft from the DSLAM. Upload is limited to under 1 Mb/sec no matter how close you are. Over 15kft EWL, speeds drop very quickly.

They are stating a 2 mile limit now, I suspect that this limit is just for getting things rolling. As they gain experience, this distance should increase. That is just speculation however.... only TDS knows for sure.
