The 767-200s almost only fly transcontinental flights between New York's JFK to LA or San Fransisco. There is a major focus on premium service on these routes for frequent fliers, so it makes sense they would test the service there first. I'll be interested to see how well it works.
Edit- I guess I skimmed the article the first time I read it, they do mention they fly mostly transcons.
