Unable to Become Pingable

Just wondering if anyone could help me out here....

I have a 6000 kb/s LAN connection, but I have been experiencing a sudden drop in download & upload speeds. The max I'm getting when speed testing my connection is 3000 kb/s dl, and about 350 kb/s ul. I've tried to do the line quality test, but I am unable to become pingable, even after following the instructions on the site about how to allow it in Windows XP Firewall.

I've tried rebooting & resetting the network connection a couple times to no avail.

Any Suggestions?

Dank

It is possible that your ISP is bocking the pings.

Thanks for the responses.

Because I can't be pinged, I couldn't run a line quality test.
I've also been noticing strange spikes in dl speeds.

My service provider is Acanac, a small company who rates are considerably less than the larger companies who offer DSL in my city (Toronto). I've had speed problems with them in the past, but I was able to resolve them when I called in to the tech support hotline.

I've just re-installed windows, and can safely say that it is not a browser/os issue.

I'm going to place another call to the tech support hotline, see if they can solve my issues.

I'm using a Lynx 210 modem by Starbridge Networks - I think its a clone of another modem called the Aztech DSL600EU.

That's important to know, as well try plugging direct (if you have a router) and running the test - reset the modem in case your modem has an assigned mac memory of only 1. (which in the firmware some ISPs do..)
