[CATV] SW MI Temps -2degF. Tiling, screen freezes. Tech Help PleHello,
Is anyone else here in SW Michigan(Portage here) suffering tiling and the screen freezing?
It's been going on four days now since the temps have dropped to single digits at night and I've seen some anomalies appear with the display/audio. But last night while trying to watch the republicans debate each other it was as worse as it's ever been. Heck, my screen "froze' tight for ~5mins straight, along with shorter freezes and asst tiling/audio problems.
So, I call in to Support. First time, on hold ~10mins, blammo, disconnected. Second time, same results, on hold and then disconnected. Third time I finally get a, I believe, foreigner that utterly berates me for almost a minute that I haven't reported this earlier. Berate as in climb down my throat berate! Yea, you bet. I asked to speak to his Supervisor and although she stated she'd "talk at'(??) him apologies are like, well, you know the rest.
Got me a Service Ticket for this coming Sunday(01/27), in the moderate temps of the early afternoon. Yea, right I tell her. It's not a problem during the day, instead it occurs during the lower temps that are seen night and that sending a Tech here in the afternoon will solve little.
How do I go about having Charter monitor/record/view these problems in the nighttime when they happen?
Thx, Possible future AT&T Customer |

Not down quite that far south, but no problems here in Muskegon/Fruitport. |

The freezing/pixelization of shows is not the fault of the weather.
It is the simultrans they are doing, and something isn't quite right. It has been going on for weeks.
This happens on both digital and Xbasic tiers, so you can rule out the converter boxes also. |

Zappa2000, since my posting the Wife has said that you are correct. She watches it during the daytime and has seen minor pixelation crop up now for weeks too.
As a side note concerning another problem that cropped up concerning their HSI coming to a crawl on Friday(01/25/2007). During some ts'ing on my part it seems their DNS is hosed again somewhere.
C:\>tracert www.charter.com Unable to resolve target system name www.charter.com.
Yea, if that tracert don't take the cake! I checked a few, all with the same results before realizing what I needed to do.
Switching over to run with OpenDNS resolvers fixed that for the time being. Sadly this isn't the first time in recent memory changing resolvers cured my ills.
And to those in the Kzoo area, check you speeds at speedtest.charter.com . I think you'll find they've dropped us back down to 3meg service. I know I have been. |

Ya we have had that picture freezing up here also, was not sure what was causing it as i had just had the phone installed. At least it is not just me.
Now my TV tunner PC card quit working, was not sure why but it seems it is a hardware failure (ATI 9600 AIW (error Code 10)) maybe the simultrans has something to do with that card not working any more. Only the TV don't work still a good video card. |
