1 edit | How to make LCD display more sharply? it's a bit blury...
I got this older NEC LCD;
I hooked it up to the PC;
Switched the PC to feed it at it's proper resolution;
But still I notice that the folder names and so on are not all crisp and sharp
It's a bit blurry... very annoying...
What is the general procedure for addressing this? How can I fix this? Where could the problems be?
Thank you all... |

| You say it is an older unit. That could be part of the problem. Do you have it connected by Analogue or DVI? If you have the option, use a DVI cable for better image. Try clear type in Windows. Earlier LCDs, particularly some of them, weren't very good. If you're coming from a CRT, well. Sadly, you often get what you pay for when it comes to LCDs from what I can tell. -- You know your life has gotten "DICEY" when it turns into an episode of LOST, like my ex wife, who I swear is one of "The Others". 1 edit | reply to inGearX Assuming that "older" implies an analog interface, you probably have a sync problem. Your monitor probably has an "autosync" function somewhere in its setup. That said, success with auto-setting of sync is highly dependent on screen content when you run it. The ideal display for setting sync is a field of single-pixel white dots because that makes it easy for the processor in the monitor to line up all the edges. Google for "nmttest_.exe" which is a small NEC utility that creates a variety of useful test patterns, one of which is the uniform field of 1px white dots you should use to set sync.
[on edit] If you can't locate nmttest_.exe, PM me with your address and I'll send it to you. |

| reply to inGearX I agree with what everyone else is saying as well, but I have a general question for everyone too.
What do you guys tend to have Windows set to? Truetype or Cleartype? -- My Site |

| I think "TrueType" has to do with printing, not display -- the options for display are "ClearType" and "Standard".
I use "Standard" for everything (Trinitron-type flat-screen CRT's and 22" LCD) and ClearType for the laptop (15.4") based on what looks best in my opinion. -- "Against stupidity, the very gods themselves contend in vain" -- Friedrich Schiller
