For the hell of it I'm going to try acetone in my fuel, see for myself if it makes a difference. Wont cost me anything as the acetone will be free... IMHO I don't think it will. |

Injectors, seals, and especially rubber components. You will never see the increase the video claims. Any increase at all will come from the acetone cleaning the fuel system and engine parts it come into contact with. And this is something that can be done with dedicated fuel system cleaners that will not harm the system like acetone.
He claims 10mpg increase from just 2oz of acetone to ten gallons of gasoline. Pure BS. If that very substantial increase was true, then why is it not mainstream knowledge? Remember, if it sounds too good to be true...... -- I can spell. I just can't type. |

Acetone is good for removing nail polish, "super glue", cleaning electronic circuit boards, some industrial manufacturing, but not much else.
In the Myth Busters test I believe adding Acetone actually decreased mileage. -- Everybody is some kind of Junkie (GODZ) |

| reply to Dude My thoughts (& I'm no mechanic): People who've tried this have enough varied results that any claimed benefits are not reproducible. Therefore there's a huge YMMV factor and I would not recommend anyone use acetone.
However, I do use this with positive results. I only use it when I plan to use all that I've put into the tank within one day, then fill-up as I do not want the mixture sitting in my tank overnight. It does improve mpg in my 2 vehicles, though I can't 'scientifically' say how much. However the primary benefit for me is as a cheap Fuel Injector cleaner -most noticeable improvement in my 93 Talon, works almost as good as Techron (meaning acetone takes 2 treatments, 2.5oz/10gal, where Techron takes 1 treatment, 1 btl/tank, for the same results). Techron reduces my mpg, YMMV.
I can say that acetone does significantly reduce HCC emissions according to the annual state test. Cut the reading in half on my 12yo Jeep, YMMV. |

It is a 100% waste of time and effort. Just like the gas pills that come and go.
