| Weather Not much into news and that means I get behind on weather, yesterday it got a wee bit hectic with ice, small amount of caution and it was pretty safe; wouldn't know it from the pile ups though.
It's been several years, like 1984 since I saw a real winter, but that's aside the obligatory two week ice storm here and there.
So, hows the other four-State areas doing besides AR? Anyone else kinda find it strange that here it is almost the end of Jan and winter has yet to visit? -I don't care for winter, but it sure gets milder every year, as an observation.

There people almost beside themselves Friday and trying to leave work early -I think they were really beging to be stuck at home for a couple of days and as we draw into Feb the panic has set in that it might not happen 
Had to drive my Daughter South out of town Friday evening, forced to use back roads because traffic was at a stand still from wrecks on the highway; granted it's much harder on the back roads, heck of a lot safer regards traffic though.
Wouldn't mind a sprinkle of snow for a change. | |

| Re: Weather My security settings won't go there, but I suspect OK had it's share of ice, I did say a wee bit of snow. Ice is like rain around Arkansas, if it rains it may have well iced.

| You should know how I feel about the cold. I rode my motorcycle that next day and boy was it crappy.
When the sleet started falling I was working on Rodney Parham. Within fifteen minutes of leaving that job site, I was almost hit three times. I then decided that work was over and headed north of the river. There was a three car pile up in the middle of the river bridge. It wasn't even slick yet!
If that little groundhog rat sees his shadow, I'll personally find his furry little butt and see what they taste like C'mon Spring!

| I think the last serious cold 'snap' around here was back in 1984 or was it 1985, the Vette had snow up to the window.
I'm convinced we are going to see less ice and snow and harder storms. You fellas down LA will probably get the worst of that mess and Tornado's around here and North.
I'm waiting for leaves in Spring too, can't be soon enough.

| Got from 2-3" of snow in Fayetteville. Roads were clear by 8am and by the afternoon most were dry. There's still some snow in shady areas, but I imagine it will be melted today. Was nice while it lasted. | |

| Well, it all changed today, now I can't figure out what's next. I got into a wee bit of a debate today regards which month Feb/March was going to worse for the South Central area, in the past though the weather as such and the axis of the planet and us; always has been Feb and then a rather jumpy period through the first of March.
My memory may not be as good as others, is it Feb or March before life settles into true Spring?

| Frigging rain is driving me nuts, I don't mind wet weather, but I would like to get out on the Lake!
Hey, anybody have an update on Greer's Ferry, I have two weeks off [Last week of this month] and very much overdue, as I have had to cancel the last four scheduled vacations; now I'm faced with no access to Greer's Ferry lake because of the White River high water. I really need this break, badly. If I took all my leave I would not have to work until the first week of November, but that does not help me now.
Anyone in the vicinity of Greer's that can establish the expected public access to the lake?

The problem is when the White river floods it directly affects how much water the Greers Ferry dam will let out and it still looks like the White river is a problem. Last time I heard (Three days ago the Lake was barricaded from launching any boats).

A large hail zone passed only a mile or so north of us (one reported as being 4") and a "rotation" on the radar passed a couple of miles to the south of us at the same time. Two more cells to go for this evening. This is the most excitement we've had in many months. | |

Take it down another 25', don't worry though the water table is rising so friggin high up here, there is no telling how much water is under the desert in TX, creeping your way, down there. Have no idea after several months, why TX would be dry...It must be a friggin crime, that's not on the books yet!

| Re: Weather Actually the problem seems to be with the growth. My well almost went dry in the mid 90s and again about 2001. But it never did. It did go dry in 2006 from about July 4 to Christmas. Now it went dry again about the first of July. I am migrating to a rainwater system but am not there yet.
My well was drilled about 1980 -- it's a good well, but there is just too much demand on the Trinity Aquifer. | |

| Well two weeks off, first in stretch in four years. Friend had offered a cabin 3 months ago, the weather looks GREAT. But there was an Oops, went in to get directions at 1130 in LR this morning "I can't let you have the cabin" Various reasons that equated to changing his mind, when we where headed out Wednesday morning, no less.
Went to NLR, clear up a couple of unrelated things, bumped into somebody I knew, this was around Noon and told him what had happened. "No, problem, you can have my house in Fairfield Bay, drive me up so I can pick up my car and you can stay the week" Talk about a lucky break! He has a place 1/2 mile away, so picking him up is a breeze.
The World is different to the one I grew up in, got an orphan out this morning who had taken 4 months to get a job, one less headache and was going to stay a month. On the proviso housekeeping would be done in lieu of rent -Never happened.
Now, hopefully an earned break and good weather. | |
