Try the latest version 11. I believe it will work for you(first uninstall the previous versions with the shockwave uninstaller).

In the past the Adobe Shockwave Player included the Adobe Flash Player in it's installation.

After installing there is only the dll of the flash-player 9 NPSWF32.dll in the plugins-directory of Seamonkey.
The needed np32dsw.dll is not there, also not in windows/system32 or anywhere else.

The verification via the adobe testpage »www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ doesn't show the upper picture, only the flash-player-test works.

With Internet Explorer 7 all works fine.

The solution is, to install the Shockwave-player version 13.3.0.24 for the IE7 and the older version 8.5.1 available here: »kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewCon···tn_18629
for Seamonkey.

With this the right dll is inserted in Seamonkey/plugins
and both tests will work with IE7 and Seamonkey 1.1.8

I think that is a wise move..heck if you do hit a page you really want to view that requires it..you will be told to go download it.

I have it a one system since at times visiting rug rats need it..but there is a lot of educational stuff out there which is interesting even for adults.

I decided to ignore this problem for a couple of days, but after testing Shockwave I got the error message again today. I do have IE set to prompt for most items, but never got any illegal operations when "testing" shockwave until this version.

I again removed Shockwave. I turned off BOClean and my antivirus and installed Shockwave 10.2.022. I'm very happy to say I tested Seamonkey and IE without any error messages.
You were smart in waiting to install this version. I don't know what possessed me to install it, I usually wait.

I appreciate your thoughts on this. Going back to an older version helped.

I also appreciate Antdude's advice to uncheck the anonymous information - I didn't know about that.

You could always try dropping back to the previous version. I don't know that this is necessarily even an 'official' release yet. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.
I haven't installed it yet. I like to get an idea of what it is specifically that's been updated first.

Thanks for your thought on this problem. I uninstalled Shockwave once again and used IE to do the online install. That all went well and I got the installation complete - when I attempted to go to the test shockwave page I got the IE errors again - I'm attaching a copy of the first one. I actually got two, as before. When I used Seamonkey to go to the test page, it showed Shockwave 10.3r24 installed but when I closed the browser I got the plugin error.
My Shockwave install log is 46kb. Is that a normal size for this?
The only thing installing online with IE did correct, is I now have this version of Shockwave listed in "view objects" in IE. When I saw that I was hopeful that it corrected the illegal operations problem.
I don't know how to fix this problem and I'm wondering if I should install the new Shockwave on our XP computer. If I'm going to experience this, I'd rather not.

I've had an issue in the past where I had to get online with IE and do an online install to get it to work, even though I had already done a 'full, offline' install that was supposed to be good for both Firefox and IE.

I first used add/remove to remove the current Shockwave (which seemed to take awhile), rebooted and then went to View Objects in IE and removed two instances of Shockwave. Since doing that the latest version doesn't show up in View Objects anymore.

I have also gotten a plug in error from Seamonkey, and IE performed an illegal operation after I visit the test Shockwave Page.

So I removed that version of Shockwave 10.3.024, rebooted and downloaded a fresh copy of Shockwave.

I'm still getting the plug-in error from Seamonkey and the IE illegal operation if I test Shockwave. Here's a picture of them.

I have no idea of how to correct this. I have the installation files of Shockwave 10.2.022 (which I previously had) and 10.2.023. Should I remove this 10.3 and install one of those instead?

I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

Yup that is a bummer..even at one time the flash player for Linux was stuck on version 7. :(

Flash Player is one the applications that ccleaner cleans up by default. Maybe if you uncheck Macromedia Flash Player in the application part of ccleaner it might help.

I am going to assume you use Internet Explorer. The folder that is getting cleaned is most likely Downloaded Program Files.
IE->Tools->Internet Options->General Tab->Settings Button->View Objects Button

On the Windows Tab, under the Internet Explorer heading in Ccleaner, try unchecking Last download location. On the Applications Tab.

Yes, for what it's worth, I not only remove the old shockwave player from add/remove first, but all other remnants. (Being a creature of habit).

This time, even after add/remove, I manually deleted the active-x in the "IE tools / Internet option's/ General/ browsing history settings/ view objects" section.

Now, after installing the new Shockwave (watch out for the Google Toolbar) :p, I have this (and only this, at least as far as Shockwave), in that section.

As i said in my original post the website will be updated in due course. The automatic part of the shock wave player that you have already installed will kick in at some point.
