Obviously, there is a need that is being filled. Too bad the (MAF)IAA is too stupid to recognize this. Bottom line is this,
#1 there IS NO NEED FOR PHYSICAL MEDIA.
#2 If it can be watched or listened to, IT CAN BE COPIED
#3 As long as FREE O/S's exist, there is no way to stop #1 and #2.
The solution, according to our local right wing nut case, is very simple. Make Linux Illegal. Make Encryption Illegal. Put in Filters on ALL network Devices. Force ALL digital devices to have a TCP chip. Force ALL devices to report everything they do to the **AA's. Get rid of that pesky document (the constitution), which limits the profitability of the megacorps.
That's the only way they will ever get the genie back in the bottle.

Or better yet, did you realize that the article was written in 1994? Or still, even better yet, did you realize that the ban on exporting encryption algorithms has been loosened significantly since that time frame?Relevant how?
