Does your DIR-655 lose connection to your DSL modem?

Besides the usual problems, this one I've been able to replicate. Am running V1.11 firmware for US.

Occasionally, once every 1-2 weeks, router will lose the connection to the DSL modem (192.168.0.1) - router is 192.168.1.1.

To fix this, I simply unplug the enternet cable from the router, plug it into my laptop - test the connection, all is working.

Then, I plug the cable back into the router - and voila, it is working fine. This has solved it each time.

Am guessing the plugging/unplugging of the cable is causing this to remedy itself. Shutting off the DSL modem or the router do NOT solve it.

Very odd needless to say. Am running a Siemens DSL 4100 modem connected next to the router with bellsouth.net/at&t service.

Am curious if others are seeing this.

I have had modem/DIR-655 router connection problems but recently replaced my old DLink BEFMCU10 v2 modem with a new BEFMCU10 v4 modem and that seems to have corrected one of my major issues.

I was seeing 'WAN interface cable has been disconnected' in the router logs about 5-10x a day, and all would be associated with an internet outage of about 1-2 minutes, but now all have stopped and the internet has been stable for about a week.

Hope this helps.

To close this issue at least for me, I swapped out the cable that connects the Siemens DSL modem to my DIR-655. All seems to be stable, and am not having any more connectivity issues between the two devices. The previous cable was one that I built, and was over 25 ft in length - the replacement one is short, 3 feet, fresh from Att.net.

Also, I'm not having anymore random timeouts now that I've turned off wireless security completely. Instead, I'm filtering devices by MAC ID to manage security. In this way, the network is somewhat secure but no WEP or WPA security is on, putting the router into random reboots.
