I emailed the guy that wrote the story and here is what he sent me. Sorry about the spacing. Didn't feel like going through and fixing it all.
My town is there! edit: fixed the formatting.

| reply to Jon This is nuts! I live in Mt. Greenwood and can't believe that they are not deploying it in Chicago. I can't imagine that much of a user base in some of those cities on the SW side. Seems to me like there would be money lost in some of those markets...so why not bring it to chicago? |

| POSEN? ROBBINS? And not in the city - including fairly high-income areas like Beverly or Hyde Park.
Amazing.
At least you guys can get WOW - not the best, but a hellovalot better than Comcrap, which is all I can get.
I'm drooling for it, but I bet it's gonna be years, if ever. -- Illegitimati non carborundum

My choice here is Sat or Comcast. I love my DTV. Have had it for 6 or 7 years with no issues. Would look long and hard at uverse though if they come here. Depending on the cost and channel line up I wouldn't be opposed to switching.
I'm always open to options but it'll be a cold day in hell before I go back to cable. |

| We have a high-rise right across the street from us blocking the Southern sky, or at least enough of it so that both the Dish and Direct folks have said fugitabouddit.
We will be moving fairly soon, and the house we are getting has a dish on it - I haven't had a chance to ask the present owners how well it works, but I'll dare anything - take any risk to get out from under the heel of Comcrap!
The folks further South from us, in Beverly or Mt. Greenwood I know who have WOW all seem to be happy with it. I don't know if it is still analogue or what sort of HD stuff they offer and I haven't found out because they aren't in this area. Only Comcrap and the satellite outfits and seeing as I can't get satellite, that leaves Comcrap or 2,5,7,9,11,20,26,32,50, and whatever else is left on terrestrial TV. -- Illegitimati non carborundum

| reply to Warzau said by Warzau :What, no Naperville? Naperville has been one of the biggest opponents to AT&T. Their dirty little village counsel and I had it out at at meeting with a state representative about a year ago. He should pictures of backyard cable distribution boxes and compared them to "giant, 6 feet high, exploding VRAD cabinets".
I paraphrase, but I pointed out that 53 inches wasn't six feet, even with rounding, and that the boxes served different functions. Run for your village board and get that guy fired. |

They also wanted guaranteed 100% city-wide build-out as well as an outrageous number of public access channels.
By the way, my address shows as Naperville, but I actually live in an unincorporated part of Lisle township that sits between Naperville and Lisle. My mail goes through the Naperville PO, though. |
