 [MNSi] Plans for higher speeds?

Hello, I am in Windsor and have been with MNSi for quite some time and I am quite happy with the service provided. I started out with the 3 Mbps service then upgraded to the ultimate 5 Mbps service. Now the 5 Mbps service is the only high speed selection.

I noticed that other ISPs in the area are supporting 7 Mbps service. Is there going to be an option for higher than 5 Mbps service with MNSi any time soon?

Any word on adsl2+ for the area? I had a tech from MNSi at my house because of a bad modem. It had it swapped for a new one. When he checked my line speed he told me that it could support up to 14 Mbps when he hooked his hand held tester and checked the speed.

Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Here is what I have with my current service. I think it is quite reasonable, I was just wondering about the higher speeds.

Currently, the only ISP offering higher DSL speeds in the Windsor area is Sympatico. There is currently an order from the CRTC to Bell to force them to provide the same speeds to retail (Sympatico) customers and wholesale (other ISP's) customers, but they are appealing it, and until the outcome of that appeal is known, they won't be doing any upgrades for wholesale ISPs.

One other Windsor ISP is advertising 7 Meg service, but since they use the same wholesale Bell infrastructure, they are in the same situation - they've just decided to jump the gun on advertising the new speeds before they're actually available.

Now, that being said, if you're on one of our own DSLAMs instead of Bell wholesale (which it sounds like you are), we do have the option of offering higher speeds, but at this point are still evaluating how we're going to package it. Up until now, we've always had a "no caps" policy. We're going to have to evaluate the costs involved in additional bandwidth and infrastructure, and make sure the product is priced appropriately.

That being said, you can be assured that we will eventually be offering higher speeds, and will keep in line with the offerings generally available in the marketplace.

Thank you very much for the information HeadSpinning See Profile
When the tech was here testing my line he was sending/receiving information from some place on Goyeau Street. I am quite close to that location.

Thanks again for responding so quickly on this.
