I'm sure a lot of people want to go to the store and play with the MBA, but wonder if anyone is planning on purchasing one.
I'd love to see a survey on this one, can it be set up? |

| i think someone already did set one up. i don think i'll be buying one but then again i havent seen it in person yet. If i'm in the apple store i might be tempted to make an impulse buy. -- At first I thought everyone on the highway was drunk but then I realized I was driving in Florida |

Sure the fanboys will buy it. But what about after that? The sub-compact notebook market is such a niche market and this will be no different. The price point on these things are still not where they need to be for general consumer consumption.
Basically you have a Macbook with a smaller case, and an iPod hard drive with no dvd drive. Oh yeah, and less processor power. But hey it weighs less and looks cool. But is the size worth the extra money. That remains to be seen. But hey, it looks cool. -- "There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots" |

For me, I'm trying to wait on a MBP refresh. I've narrowed my computing down to one machine. So it needs some horsepower and needs to be portable. So the MBP is where it's at for me. -- New to the Mac? »www.thedigitalblue.com

| reply to haroldo No. Not enough functionality for the price. It's a cute, sexy machine which will undoubtedly appeal to a certain small segment of 'road warriors' who buy every connected technogadget that comes out, and those who Just Have To Buy It because Apple made it, but the appeal is limited to that until they resolve a couple of serious design compromises. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |

Not sure about that, other than to say, if someone doesn't want to lug around a (relatively) big and cluncky laptop (that looks the same computer as the one used by 90% of a university's freshman class) but prefers something sleek and stylish (with a bit of wow-appeal, to impress a client), this is the one. This is a fashion piece IMHO. Some women spend $3000-4000 on a handbag, when a plastic bag from the supermarket could be used to carry 'stuff'. In any event, I have no interest in this and only asked to see if anyone out there is. |

I guess 'impress a client' could be a valid reason to buy one, but most clients would probably look at it and think your rates are too high...
Although the next time I want to spend three grand on a computer I'll try that handbag comparison. You can all send me get well cards the next day... -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |

Yes, and the Kia has the better warranty. Right now my MacBook Pro handles all my major computing needs, but when I need to go somewhere I have a 2 lbs notebook that I can actually plug in. It isn't a Mac, and it the screen isn't as large, but on the other hand I do have a lot more ports. -- Retaking our country one election at a time. |

This really doesn't matter anyway. Perceived value is the bottom line and some would say the Porsche is not worth the money. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |
