If so, how do you like it?

3346 or 3347?

The 3346s we got just last week, so I haven't played with them much yet. For most uses, they're essentially the same as 3347, minus the wireless.

The 3347s I've tested.

The telnet and web interface has plenty of diagnostics information (line stats and more) and they are just as rich in features as the 2Wires, at least for the common features which I've tested. So far I haven't found anything that the 2Wires can do which the 3347s can't.

For better or for worse, the telnet interface is somewhat IOS-like. The web interface seems to be modeled after the telnet interface, so sometimes it's not very intuitive to know where to find a particular item. You might have to drill down through several layers of menus, as you would in telnet.

Unfortunately for everything I touch, I tend to criticize UIs a lot (a professor's similar attitude rubbed off on me in a UI course I took once), so most people probably wouldn't even notice what I'm talking about.

Last week I was setting up a VPN tunnel between the 3347 and a Cisco 2800 ISR using IPSec, since the 3347 can act as a VPN endpoint. Though I didn't finish then, it looked promising (I got the tunnel up, but there was some routing issue and it wasn't passing traffic, so we'll try again next week).

DSL performance-wise, I've heard neither praise nor complaints from customers and techs, so for now I'd say 2Wires are still the choice for poor lines until we know more about how these perform.

Thus far, no unhappy customers, which is slightly better than 2Wire, but it's nothing to be surprised about given the fact that the Netopias are not refurbished and cost a little more.

sfernan : Ok guys ..here is an update regarding my 2wire modem. In short, it was rebooting itself after being up for 4 days and X hrs and only after i went in advanced detailed log.

For the latest test, I decided to check how long the modem would stay up without me doing any browsing while in mdc mode. The last check was last nite and the modem was up for 4 days and 11 hrs. This morning, its was up for 0 days and 10 hours. So it rebooted itself overnite. Then I went in advanced detailed log and it once again rebooted itself.

I am using mainly default settings.
