Re: [Other] MS Money file disappears?

Perhaps it's a Vista specific problem?

I've been running Money 2007 on Win XP since day one and had not experienced any such problem with my MNY file.

Yep, it's real, it happens, very random, and MS appears to not yet acknowledge it. I have found twice that a file named ****.tmp is there instead of my ****.mny file, and simply renaming the tmp file to my file's name allows me to open it back up as if nothing ever happened. Clearly a program bug, but for now there appears to be a simple work-around.

are you using vista? are you saving your money file in my documents? is your my documents mapped to a network drive?
I have it saved in My Documents, yes -- but its not mapped to a network drive. The location of 'My Documents' has been moved from the default location of C:\Users\username\Documents to C:\Documents -- and yes, Vista

It happened again to me last night.. Very annoying..

I do a nightly backup of my system, but also have Money keep the prior 10 backups on exit -- so Im not too concerned about losing it -- but its really annoying, not to mention a bit unnerving that a file that could potentially be so imprtant can so easily disappear for no apparent reason.

The first time this happened, I thought that just MAYBE I may have made a mistake, and accidentally deleted it -- but now, just a few months later, it has happened again.. My Microsoft Money 2007 .MNY data file has been deleted from the system.. Gone, poof.. No sign of it anywhere..

I have a backup of the file, and it seems from a Google search that others have experienced this as well -- Anyone else? Any ideas on whats going on and how to prevent it?
