well my son hasnt urinated in almost 3 days. about 15cc total. the doctors just told us that if he doesnt urinate that the potassium level in his body is going to increase to the level that he is going to have cardiac arrest. to have someone tell me and my wife that our son has only 24 hours or so to live is almost unbearable guys. i took a break to come into the computer room here in the hospital to rant. i as my wife havent slept very much at all but i am so frightened that i feel like im wired up to the max. even though my son is fully sedated i tell him everything i can and that i love him more than life. jesus guys this is the worst thing i have ever experienced. the funny thing is that i have spilled my guts to you folks i dont even know more than i have to anyone else except my wife. i have never been one to talk to others about my problems and have tried to figure things out on my own, but when i try to figure this out i come up empty. the sun is shining outside and i wish i could take my son out there to fly his remote control helicopter he got for xmas. well thats enough for now so im gonna go back and hold his hand and tell him i love him some more and pray that he starts to pee a lot. thank you folks for listening to me babble and writing back. to see replies from each of you has a certain calming effect to know that there are still people out there who care. if more people were like all of you then we wouldnt have a need for armies and weapons of destruction. i will write back later when i take another break and hopefully i can give you some good news.
p.s .. when i get home i will post a pic i took of me and my son about 1 month ago. thank you all and remember to love your children and tell them you love them 100 times a day. |

As a parent of 3 kids I am so sorry. My middle son was in the hospital before his 3rd birthday and was there for 5 days. I didn't leave his side except for one time while my wife was there to go home and take a shower.
I'll keep you and your family in my prayers and my families prayers.

I'm sorry North Carolina is so far away. I'd love to sit with you and your wife to listen to you talk about how much joy and pride your son has given you in the last 12 or so years. And watch as you beam with the pride he has brought you.
My port is on my chest and the only thing that really bothers me about it is the thought that I might do something to foul the port or get an infection in/through it since it's a pretty straight shot to everything vital.
I hope you will stop trying to figure out "things". You'll likely not come up with something you could or should have done differently.
I wish you and your wife strength and your son peace in whatever form it takes.
