| Got My New Mac Pro - Pics Inside
Just received it Monday.
Specs: 30 inch Apple Cinema Display 2.8ghz Quad Core Xeon Penryn Core 6GB 800mhz ECC DDR2 (from OWC) 2 x 750GB 32MB Cache Samsung Spinpoint F1 HDD's in Raid 0 Ati HD 2800XT M-Audio Studiophile LX4 Speakers (not new)
The desk, palm tree, and Aeron will be gone soon. I'm having the office professionally redesigned with a larger desk, seating room, more plants, lamps, and some pictures on the wall. Possibly a 52" Samsung somewhere too. The Aeron isn't very comfortable for longer sits. I'm going to go with a Steel case chair. Much larger/softer base with ergonomics to boot.
The Mac Pro is lightening, the 30" ACD must've been shot down from heaven. I have multiple 2005 and 2405 Dell FPW monitors in the house, none of them hold a candle to the ACD. The colors, brightness, and overall build quality make the Dells look like trash.

The box is off the floor anyway thanks to the built in handles on the bottom, no? -- STFU & RTFM | Iraq Coalition Deaths | bobrk |

| reply to Bigzizzzle said by Bigzizzzle :I hate those new Mac keyboards... Like using a freaking laptop keyboard... ARgh Mac.. Everything else looks great I had a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard before this and in comparison the Mac keyboard feels pretty normal. The key pressure and bounce back is laptopish, but the layout is not. I kind of miss the ergonomic position (hands spread over the keyboard), but it's not bad.
I have bad news though. The Mac Pro is going back to Apple. There seems to be a flaw with the Ati Radeon HD 2600XT video cards. A lot of people who ordered have the same isues as me. Artifacts, freezing, and screen flicker. I'm probably going to re-order with a Nvidia 8800GT because even replacement Mac's with the Ati cards still have the same issues.
On a side note, I'm sort of happy. I will be able to order with 8 cores now instead of 4.
Cheers to all those that commented! |

said by Bigzizzzle :Just curious what do you use the MAC for in business? Sucks about all the recent Apple Flaws with their manufacturing. I'm in internet marketing. I don't do much video or photo work. I primarily run Adwords editor, 40+ firefox tabs, ichat, coloquy, and 7 or so tabs in terminal, in addition to thunderbird and photoshop/illustrator. What I meant by business was that I use this computer for business only. I don't game on it, etc.
I can't really blame Mac, it's Ati's fault. Everything else is flawless. To be honest this is some of the best built computer equipment I've seen. My custom built PC's with top of the line aluminum cases look like garbage compared to the Mac Pro. Hopefully it will be corrected soon. There are 50+ units that have been confirmed to have the issue and were returned, so it's only a matter of time before Apple notices this and takes action - if they haven't already. |
