| I had this problem, too.... but both times I called T-Mobile, they gave me 10-message credits. I still have 7 credits on my account, so I can receive seven more text messages (always unwanted) before I have to call them again. In both calls, the CS person was nice enough about it.

| There's a much easier answer to this problem. Takes two steps.
1: GrandCentral. It's the only number I give out. When people ask "is this a cell phone?" I tell them it's a global number that will reach me when needed. When they try to get my cell phone, I redirect them back to the GrandCentral number.
2: Don't give out your cell number for texts to anyone you don't trust, period. Don't sign up for text-based subscriptions - and if you do have to, create the alias account and use that instead as an email sub - comes to your phone as a text, can block when necessary.
I noticed something though - when I was using my BlackBerry Pearl, I used to get about one-two spams a month. Using my Sidekick I get no spam. Same number and all. Weird stuff. |
