Thing is, it isn't that new anymore. We have launched how many markets now? This sort of stuff should have started to slow down and disappear by now.
True. I'm sad to see that more and more people are experiencing the multiple-days-till-it-works install.

I didn't mean to OT this thread, but I'd love to discuss this further...

It is new up here in IL....so from a customer perspective it's a new service. Aside from building the VRADS and routers (which is the part they should have down since they're all in TX) the actual real world install's will always be rough in a new market.

I wish they had used local employees first to iron out the kinks. I hate hearing stuff like this....
I am a local at&t employee (Illinois). Installation was performed on my house last week. Installation was long, but I was told to expect this..so no surprises there.

Installation at every house is going to be different as all of our houses are different. U-verse is not similar to telephone installation where at&t brings dial tone to the outside of the house. U-verse requires inside wiring (fishing cables through walls, ceilings, attics, basements, etc.).

I am very happy with the service and recommended it ...I am still getting comfortable with all the features. I also upgraded my internet speed and am amazed!

What did you upgrade your speed to the 10/1.5 and what county are you in?

I upgraded my internet to 3.0. I did so because my desktop PC was old (Windows 2000..installed over Win98) and was not pleased with the speed of downloads. Amazing how much quicker it really is. Subsequently I bought a new PC (Vista Home Edition Profesional).

After the upgrade I was also extremely pleased with the speed of my wireless connection (laptop). I'm in Crystal Lake (McHenry County).

Well I am still waiting on the manager that came here on Saturday to call in to Uverse to let them know what went on at te house. I called him today and left him a message so he doesnt forget about me.

Other issues I had during the install which I didnt put in my other posts where;
The techs left thier blue booties thrown outside my front door in the snow.
They did not seal the hole on the outside of my house. The first techs very poorly installed the new jack inside the house.
The second tech that was going to replace the jack just left wires dangling from my wall when he left.
They left various tool parts, wiring parts and such laying around the house after they left.
They left the orginal equipment (the ATT boxes they had to swap out) laying around my house along with the new equipment for all three days.
They never disconnected my comcast lines fully from service.

Also I just upgraded to the 10/1.5 service and I am waiting on that to pop in. more speed? yes please....

just a final update. I got about $160 in credits for the install issues. And that is in addition to the first month free and the 100 cash back. So I am happy with it.

Its new for that area, and new areas hire new installers. So, a guy doing Uverse in Texas for a year will have alot more exp than a tech in an area that was just heated up a few weeks ago.
