[TWC] NEO running horribly slow?

Anyone else in the NEO area running terribly slow? I can't muster above 5k/s for some reason. I'm wondering if anyone else is having a problem since I just switched to Vista today and ever since then it seems to be very slow. Hopefully it's just TWC and we'll be back up to speed again soon so I don't have to troubleshoot this lovely OS.

I've been running Vista for about 2 months now, never a problem with speed. It is pre-tweaked for maximum broadband connectivity. Just make sure you feed it some Ram though. I recommend at least 2 GB.

The only problem I had recently was with my Zyxel P-330W getting mixed up with DHCP. Hopefully the backrev I just did a few minutes ago to 1.6 will fix the problem.

Yeah, plenty of RAM here. Sitting on 4gb. I've ran a few trace routes and it seems that the router in Columbus is being screwy for me again.

If anything it's one or more of their routers...

Did you look on the router watch?

Durham NC/TWC running at about 5-6k for the last few hours (started around maybe 9pm EST, Friday night?). Reboots of modem and router did nothing.

Something must have changed around here.

I am in Youngstown and the speeds are super slow as well. Downloading from Microsoft servers at 94KB/sec when it use to be around 800KB/sec a few months ago. Getting real tired of this as its been happening for about a month now..,.

I am also in Youngstown, and today the net is running like crap. Web sites take forever to load up and sometimes they never get there. TWC should be glad Verizon doesn't offer fiber on my part of town.

fine and dandy outside of Canton/Akron

If you are having speed problems, please don't through up a speed test.

First run the tweak test

»/tweaks

then run the line quality test

»/linequality

Then paste your results if you still need help.

This is the speed at 430am. I think there maybe a issue with tw overselling the node in my area or general incompetence.

Hello everyone. I have been a fan of this site/forums for quite a while now.

I too have experienced really, really bad speeds during peak hours via RoadRunner. During the day i can hit approx. 14-14.5 mb's. During the evening is a whole different story. Most nights if i can hit 3 mb's i feel lucky. Honestly, most nights i get below 2.

From what i can remember this all really started for me (really bad peak hour speeds) in Late Oct./Very early Nov. I can remember it was a Sunday night and all was well. Next night which was a Monday it was slow slow slow. I don't know if a node was oversold that weekend or whatnot but that is when it really headed downhill.

Now i cannot tell you how many hours i have spent on the phone, the countless people i have talked to or the techs that have come to my home but let me tell you it is staggering. I have talked to supervisors, had 3 day long ping tests run via Tier 3 techs. Until recently no one knew anything at all. Time Warner's customer service is both clueless and completely in the dark.

I talked to a Tier 3 tech last week who after i asked about my area being oversold he acknowledged the fact that, that was indeed the case. Supposedly My area (Akron), Elyria and somewhere in PA ( i cannot remember where exactly) were all feeling this peak hours crunch. I was told that the parts to fix this mess were "on order" and no ETA was known.

A tech was at my home last Thursday and told me they had a meeting on Tuesday of last week about this situation. He told me Stow, Ohio is currently being re-wired and they are working their way outwards. He told me he is also tired of service calls relating to this issue. I can see his point, he has no way to fix it so he chases ghosts for an hour and shuffles off to another home. There are alot of people dealing with this issue. With AT&T and others coming into the area it has kind of lit a fire under their azz's and they have to do something or they are going to start losing customers left and right.

I for one will be calling Time Warner this week and will be asking for a size-able refund for this whole ordeal. Between my time spent running ping tests and hours and hours of phone time and lack of even par performance, something needs to be done. I really hope this all gets fixed somewhere in the near future.

I have had Time Warner in this home since 1977, and roadrunner for approx. 10 years. Besides when RR first came out and it was super buggy this ordeal has been the 2nd worst by far.
