Re: [info] ATT announces DSL price increase March 2008

Is it possible the email was due to your yearly contract running out and the "monthly" fee post contract kicking in?

When I got one of those emails it was due to my yearly contract running out and the monthly fee kicking in.

The current online prices are (in the ballpark):
Basic DSL
$14.99
Pro DSL
$24.99
Elite DSL
$34.9

ATT had gone to the $19.95 Express DSL without any contract a couple years ago. Before then, I used to call them a month before my annual commitment was expiring and sign up for another year and I would get $5 off the old $24.95 DSL Express rate. I just looked up DSL rates on ATT and it states "no commitment" so it doesn't look like anything has changed requiring a contract.
The only thing different with this increase, is I would get free wifi hot spot access included with the DSL express. Most of the ATT hot spots seem to be at McDonalds but some McDonalds I've been at were free open access anyway.

Wonder what's going to happen to Yahoo/ATT with microsoft trying to buy Yahoo? Could be another increase on the horizon if ATT is charged more to use Yahoo service under microsoft management.
