So people want heavy portable computers with tiny screens for travelling? I really doubt that.

Going by your criteria a perfect cube would be the ultimate "small" computer. heh

The targeted market doesn't want to sacrifice screen size, they want something light and something within the size of the other stuff they're carrying with them like file folders or even the manila envelope seen in the MBA commercial. Any 13" laptop is perfect for this so thinner wins.
