Right now I'm using Vista and the uptime is over 100 days... So please, don't tell me Vista is a shitty operating system because it works great. XP has better compatibility due to it being around for so many years. When you deal with academic software for Universities, then don't always come out with the latest software so I need XP boxes also. I never told anyone they should upgrade to Vista.. Macs are so rare in the general public that it's tough even getting software to run on them.. They're expensive and they're proprietary.. In essence, a monopoly on both hardware and operating system... Of course Macs are Unix based, but Linux DOES own Macs... ANY DAY... Macs are overpriced pieces of shit... Linux is often free and MUCH MUCH better. With a Windows machine, I can run on whatever hardware I want.. And I am not "suffering" with Windows... As I said earlier, I have a 100+ day uptime on this system. It's rock solid. My XP systems run even smoother (due to compatibility). The reason being is that it IS the standard for the world today... Like it or not, it IS here to stay... The reason why it is so buggy is because of how much software there is out there to interface with that OS.... I do agree that it could be "better" for how much time and money MS put into it, but it's still quite stable for me (Vista) when not using some old software. They're coming out with a service pack this Spring. XP is VERY VERY stable... I think it's almost as good at Linux at this point in terms of stability... I have had XP machines go almost a year without needing a reboot as a network server in my house on a UPS before we had a long power outage a few years ago.. Of course, security wise, Linux is more secure... And Linux is more efficient, but XP is still a great OS. -Tzale -- Neoconservatives (G.W.B) are not real conservatives.
