I'm waiting on that before I try doing another clean install of the OS. |

| reply to Tomek Its pointless to wait for XP SP3 because Windows XP is being faced out by the end of January 2008. So if your computer can upgrad it to Vista and wait for Vista SP1 to come. Microsoft doesn't seem to care if SP3 will make XP run faster than Vista SP1. |

It is also pointless to downgrade to Vista because everything I've got works as it should in Windows XP, where I know for a fact that it won't in Vista. |

| reply to caveman000 My only objection is that it's still "Release candidate" status; if it was RTM at least, I know it should be okay, or a final build of it.
It is extremely tempting , but I will have to hold off. |

XP Home was phased out as soon as Windows Vista came to be. Pro, MCE and all the other versions are still being supported by Microsoft with patches, updates, etc.
The fact that there is an RC build of SP3 puts the lie to your statement. |
