where would i plug one of these in on a s10 blazer?
What year? If >=1996, should be underneath the lower dash somewhere (within reach of the driver, per the OBD specs).

I have the ELM 327-USB tool.
It supports all the OBD2 protocols which is why I bought it. (future proof with the CAN protocol)
I bought it off Ebay for like $80.

I have used it fine with these different softwares with Windows XP:
PCMSCAN
Proscan
wOBD
Digitmoto
OBD II Scanmaster
Some are free and some cost money, I did find the ones that cost money for free though.

It does not work with autogeninuity software.

If all you want is to read codes and reset codes, you can find standalone units, but with the USB reader it displays many sensors, live stats, tempuratures, etc.

Read/reset is a minimum. I would like it to be able to do real time monitoring, and even some other diagnostics.

Are you looking just to read/reset codes? If so, pretty much any auto parts store special should work just fine.

Unless you're looking for more advanced features, such as realtime data monitoring, printing capability, etc.

Hello all, I need some suggestions please:
I am looking for an ODB2 cable and software for my laptop. I of course want the best out there for the lowest amount of money. As of right now the cars I am looking to connect to are a 99 Escort ZX2, and a 02 Gallant. Of course I will want to be able to use it on any other cars I get in the future. Does anyone have any suggestions and what to get/what they use, and why?

Thank you.
