[DSL] DSL can't conect to Aol Via new broadband router (UK)

Hi,

I'm slowly being driven mad by this. I've got Aol Broadband via a new offer just before christmas & I'm trying to connect using their Modem/router. I've got it all plugged in and am using a windows xp laptop to try and connect to set up the broadband connection for the first time. I run the CD with the installation software on it and it checks everything out OK until it wants me to put in my username and password. Which I do ( they posted me a new username and password).Thats as far as I get. It always comes back with "Connection failed". I've rung customer helpline several times and they have changed my password, or they said try your username and then @aol.com . Neither of which work, the installation still stalls saying "if you have forgotten my username go to customer services". I can read my email by logging into www.aol.co.uk and putting in my new user name and password - so I know this username and password are "live".

I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the whole experience. I've been trying to connect since september.I thought it might be my PC, so I tried connecting with the free laptop supplied with the carphone warehouse( Running vista), still stops at the same position that my PC did ! At the moment I've gone back to dial-up even though I'm paying for broadband !

Any one got any ideas?

Thanks
