 | Value spin job! Here's what really happened: Someone in charge of the DSL product at the big house looked at their forecast and their revenue objective and said "what should we do? We'll never get there at the current rate. Oh yeah, that's right, we have a captive audience let's raise the price, I will then make my quota." Simple. Just factor in a bit of churn but the market base is so big the revenue impact can be nothing but positive. Nice value spin job, though.
Now that the predatory pricing strategy is in the second phase - they've successfully pushed out any likely smaller telephony based providers - they can execute phase II - raise all prices.
Sad that the FCC and others don't seem to honor the entrepreneurial spirit of this country and resist the lobby and the monopoly.
Finally, how someone like Steve Jobs and his crew can even be associated with this sadly run, crusty business, is beyond understanding. Greed I guess. |
