There's a huge difference between the government telling the people what to do to protect them from their stupidity and the government taking care of the people |

| Please explain the difference? Protecting them from their own stupidity is a SUBSET of taking care of them, not the other way around. Taxing them is a SUBSET of taking care of them. Building roads is a SUBSET of taking care of them? How is homeland security (which is a SUBSET of taking care of them) any different? I mean, I could be STUPID, and try and take a bottle of mouthwash on my flight. The government is just 'taking care of my stupidity'.
Of course, the government 'taking care of people' is just another step on the road to fascism. (Not my quote) -- The happiest countries are the most secular. The struggle AGAINST corporations is the struggle FOR humanity! |

| The government protecting the people's welfare (e.g. clean drinking water, clean air, regulating radio transmission power levels, homeland security, etc.) is not the same as the government protecting you from yourself (e.g. bailing you out of your mortgage because you overextended yourself to buy a house, regulating businesses because poor consumers choose not to read their contracts before signing on the dotted lines, allowing you to keep your mouthwash because you can't follow instructions before passing through airport security, etc.).said by karlmarx :Of course, the government 'taking care of people' is just another step on the road to fascism. | Umm, the OP, which is what I was replying to "But government control over all facets of your life goes along with that desire to be protected. "Nanny government", which has gotten stronger over the years, is just a precursor to fascism." -- The happiest countries are the most secular. The struggle AGAINST corporations is the struggle FOR humanity! |

| Once again, there's a huge difference between the government exceeding their boundaries and telling people what to do to protect them from their own stupidity and the government taking care of the people. Also, you twisted TCH's words therefore not quoting him, hence my comment that "your quote" isn't any other person's quote either. |
