Upgrading to Elite would cost a lot more than what I am paying now ($50) for a very basic cable+net package. I guess I was tempted to try U-verse because the salesman really talked it up. Apparently he overstated the improvement I would see over cable.

It was $40 just for cable internet till very recently when I asked them to cancel all of my cable TV. They then lowered the internet part to $35 and offered basic cable TV for $15 additional. Perhaps the additional competition from u-verse played a role.
