I fail to see the point of this product

Existing fiber patch cords can do a 180 degree bend in around 3-5 inches with minimal loss, just as long as the bend is even with no kinks. Outside plant cable has more stringent bending radius', however underground most conduit is designed not to have any tight bends, to facilitate easy cable pull in.

The only place tight bends could remotely exist, are in the home runs (conduit from suites in a MDU to a central point on the floor) at witch point they could probably arrange to place the box and run cat5 to the suite

I would say that is closer to 50% of "designed not to have any tight bends". Its amazing what general contractors think fiber can do and equally amazing how big a fit they throw when you explain the entrance ducts are not going to work if they are shaped like an S.
