It's simple, Verizon knows that Charter can't afford this battle or any court battle at this time. They're looking for a quick settlement from Charter without much resistance. They also wanted the suit filed before any potential Chapter 11 filing. The conference call at the end of month may very well include an announcement that Charter is refinancing it's debt.
