 [Connectivity] Comcast claims nation-wide outage?

Yesterday I tried to add another router to my comcast plan and was put on hold while they tried to do it. While on hold I was eventually disconnected and then noticed that I now no longer had any internet. All the lights on my modem were solid, but it would take me directly to the Comcast.net installation site and wouldn't allow me to do anything other than download the Comcast installation software. I later called back and they told me I was delinquent on my bill, which I told them was impossible because I very clearly remember paying it. Shortly after that I was hung up on. Later I call back and, finally, I get what sounds like a competent technician and after an hour and a half of them trying to fix my internet she comes back and tells me that this is a nationwide problem that should correct itself in 24-48 hours...

Is this BS, or is anyone else having this problem or heard this response to a trouble call?

Why do you have to call Comcast to add another router? What did she say the problem was? I'm not sure what your situation is, sorry

My mistake,I apologize; I didn't call to add another router I called to add another modem. I have another computer that I wanted hooked up to the internet but it's 3 flights above where my router is located in my house so it would have been easier to add another modem than to rout an ethernet cable up 3 flights of stairs.

Is this a modem you bought? I'm not sure if they will allow more than one modem per account. If so, you'll probably have to pay for two accounts.

Why not go wireless?

Back to your original question, I'm up and running. It could be a nationwide problem with their activation but I doubt it. I think you threw them for a loop wanting to add another modem to the same account.

no nationwide problem here.
at least they didn't blame the trans-Atlantic undersea cable damage for it.

our phones (Comcast VOIP) is down and has been for (1) day
Wife called HSI is down intermittently
we have an arctic blast here.
The winds or cold might be affecting the service

Isolated.
They most likely said the provisioning is down in regards to provisioning another modem. L
