1 edit | Umm, what the HELL?! I pay $60/month for two phones to get Total Internet specifically so we can use all the Starbucks locations for free.
Starbucks, fuck you, and fuck your little dog AT&T, too.
I ain't switching to AT&T, that's for damn sure, not the least of which because their data rates suck dick.
Starbucks HQ is about ten blocks south of here. (Uh, and TMO HQ is about ten miles due east.) Makes me want to make a personal visit, if I thought it'd do any good. |

Oh. You should mention this. According to: »www.starbucks.com/aboutus/pressd···p?id=826
In recognition of the many T-Mobile customers who enjoy visiting Starbucks, the Company is also announcing that T-Mobile HotSpot customers will be able to continue to access Wi-Fi services at no additional cost, through an agreement between AT&T and T-Mobile. [bold mine]
Still, an "agreement" isn't quite as reliable as being the same company. Agreements expire and change. And I don't think Starbucks should be supporting monopolists.
Ahem. |

Re: Umm, what the FUCK?! Probably not. But I wouldn't want to. I like TMO. And they (apparently) don't have control over these hotspots.
Barring what I just posted, I would hope at least in such a situation that they'd allow me to crank the phones back to the old $20/mo unlimited GPRS. |

Re: Oh. You should mention this. I have a T-Mobile HotSpot account and also AT&T wireless for two iPhones. My T-Mobile contract is over a year old, so no termination fee.
I'll be god damned if I keep that TMO account open one second after I find out that my AT&T wireless account qualifies for this free WiFi access. -- Pedro

 | It looks like the free access is only for AT&T BB customers, not cellphone customers.

1 edit | reply to romulusnr Correct. And this "agreement" is for a period of 5 years.
Whee.
PS... It probably also had something to do with T-Mobile wrapping up buying the former AT&T Wireless affiliate known as SunCom. There's probably a cellular roaming agreement sliding through at the same time as the WiFi.
