Re: T1 not enough? What then?

Just as a FYI 4 bonded t1's will give you 6mb, not 12 (4 x 1.5)

What type of speed do you need, up to 6-9mb it makes sense to go with bonded T1's, over 9mb, is typically more cost effective to go with a fractional DS3 (T-3)

I would like to get around 10Mbps down and maybe 2-5 up. I have 25 users that are using the internet a lot and a 1.5 connection isn't cutting it. I understand my needs are right on the edge or t1's and t3. We pay around 2k a month right now and that includes voice/long distance

first. do you have authority to make changes? are there existing contracts that you can't break? is there someone at "corporate" who won't allow you to make any changes?

second. by adding voice and data into the mix and targeting a price point, without sharing minutes of use, then you are essentially mixing apples and oranges.

third. you can get whatever you want. question is how much your company is willing to spend for it. acquiring more bandwidth is not a money saving project -- too many people think you can get more for less.

Several of us on BBR can guide you through this process but we'll need for you to help us help you.

Assuming that you have authority to make changes, and without contractual commitments to others, and you know that this solution for additional bandwidth will probably cost you more money and that's OK, if you want our guidance, you'll have to go over to the sister forum »ISP b2b etc and ask there.

Here is what anyone would need to advise you.
1. full street address including zip code
2. first 6 digits of Bell issued phone number active at that address (no cell phones, no VOIP numbers)
3. ask for 6M bonded T1s, 12M frac DS-3, and 10M ethernet
4. tell us about your long distance usage:
--in-state minutes per month
--out of state minutes per month
--international minutes per month, how many minutes to what countries
5. tell us about your toll-free numbers, if you have any
--in-state minutes per month
--out of state minutes per month
--Canadian minutes per month
6. tell us about your phone system, is it analog or digital. do all phone calls go to a receptionist, or does everyone have their own personal phone number? is your current provider supplying any equipment that you would have to return if you quit their service?
7. is there anything else "special" about your setup, anything customized about how you take or make calls beyond what would normally be expected? do you have remote employees who take or make calls through your system? do calls coming in at night get redirected to another location? those types of things...
