| said by highhatsize:You mean there are still coffee houses where you have to pay for Wi-Fi access? Seriously. Even the teeny little local no name coffee house near me doesn't charge, free wi-fi. Why would anyone want to go where you have to buy something and are limited to 2 hours with a "card"? I can't imagine even wanting to sit somewhere like that for any length of time with a laptop. Maybe an airport to kill the time, but by choice? | reply to highhatsize By the way, the coffee at Tully's, always, and at Peet's, usually, is better than Starbucks. In fact, it is better at every non-chain coffee shop that I have ever gone to except for Cup-a-Joe's. That reminds me, I will have to rate Cup-a-Joe to warn people off. -- Cordially, SANFRANSON |

 | reply to La Luna The indie cafes offering free wifi was a key differentiating factor. Buy a starbucks card and get the code for 2 hours of access or subscribe to ATT DSL and get unlimited, pretty much de-differentiates them.
That is mostly gone now (or soon will be) and the indies will have to 'walk' back to 2000, getting killed by SBUX.
Love it, founder walks back in and stops store expansion, signs new hosting deal, etc., might be time to buy SBUX...
