| Tech Visit Ofallon, MO 10 meg Thought I would share my story from a tech visit today. For those who don't know/remember, we have been locked from the 10 meg service in this area. We were told this was due to some sort of upgrade that was to take place this spring.
Tech arrived at my home about 10:15 am, said he was going to run some test on the phone line to see if they can increase my speeds(6/768). He hooked 3 different pieces of equipment to the line and ran test. So far I know my line measures at 9800 ft  He stated the cutoff is 9000 ft... I can except that, but he did take down all the readings from his other tools and said he was going to check all my splices then retest and get back with his boss to discuss the test numbers. 
I also chatted with him about fiber, and he stated they are getting ready to pull fiber into an older subdivision here in O'fallon.  He didn't know much about it, but he told me the area and the homes are all 30-50 years old, I verified on a map with the street names he gave to narrow down the area. All new subdivisions in this area and many others are already getting fiber to the home.
I realize this probably won't help the majority of "rural" customers in here, as this area is densely populated.

Tstolze how is your DSL holding up since they bumped you back up to 10meg? If you are still holding good I am going to try to see if I can get bumped back up to 10meg. I have been rock solid at 6meg. but it would be nice to get back to 10meg. again. |
