| can low signal strength to cable modem affect my network
I posted also on the network forum. I thought this forum could possibly answer some of my questions.
My internet provider is Cherokee Cable Murphy NC. To the best of my knowledge (and some their original brochures)they are using a road runner system.
My network at home randomly drops the Internet connection.
I ran 192.168.100.1 on the cable modem SB4220 today (and in the past)
At around 8:30AM input level were 12 then 11 then 10 and then around 11AM 8.
The log on the SB4220 cable modem shows a number of entries
3-Critical R02.0 No Ranging Response received T3 time-out 3-Critical R03.0 Ranging Requests Retries exhausted
80211121923 3-Critical D01.0 DHCP FAILED - Discover sent, no offer received
This had occurred 15 times a day over the last 3 days. The DHCP meassage happened once.
Signal levels for input ranged from 12 to 8 output levels ranged from 29 to 42
I have no idea whether these represent reasonable levels or typical meassages.
Any ideas much appreciated. |

| The signals really shouldn't fluctuate more than 3 dB in 24 hours.
The downstream signal (input) seems ok, but the upstream signal (output) has serious issues. The upstream should be more stable then the return, but it's fluctuating 13 dB.
You need a tech call to figure out your upstream problem. |
