| Dumb question
About a month ago I got an email asking me how much I wanted for my domain name. I told the guy $5k. He called me tonight after not hearing from him in a while and was acting really weird on the phone. Said that he could offer $2k. I told him $5k or I wasnt selling and he said, "I need to talk it over with my senior partners." When I asked him what it was going to be used for he said, "Honestly (first red flag, I know), a group of us are buying this domain name for a bday gift for a friend of ours (my domain is a fairly common first name). Anything I should be concerned about like him recording the conversation and being able to switch the domain without any addtl consent? Sounds far fetched, but these days, you never know. -- If ever offered a breath mint - take it. |

| keep everything lock up and don't agree to anything over the phone. Tell him if he wants to make a bid it needs to be in writing and mailed to you etc. make it super formal. -- »www.spikedstudios.com - Web Design / Internet Marketing / Search Engine Optimization |

| reply to yahtzee If they are really serious. I would use Moniker's escrow service. I believe they are the only ICANN authorized with an escrow account.

| reply to yahtzee Be careful with the recording of a phone call. You're in a one party consent state (VA) whereas if the other party is in a state where both parties need to be under consent to record the call, the evidence could be rendered useless if it were to go court as you would have violated the law.
I'd second going with Moniker though. I haven't used it but at least you're dealing through a trusted third party in the event things went south. -- Submit phishing to phishtracker HostMySite.com - For your hosting needs |
