| [Speed] Upload Trial/Test?
First, let me say that I am in an area surrounded by FiOS and when I first moved here over 2 years ago, I was getting 16/2 speeds with Comcast.
Today I noticed an unusually high result for my upload speeds, so I decided to investigate further.
Using a local bandwidth meter, DU Meter; I visited the following File Upload Test Site and used the 64MB test file from OOL's FTP site to test my sustained upload speeds.
What I discovered, after performing this test half a dozen times with the exact same results, was that I had some type of PowerBoost enabled. And I like it.
Check out these screen shots I took during one of the test runs.
 First 90 Seconds
 After 90 Seconds
It looks as though I get 3Mbps for the first 90 seconds, then it drops down to what I assume to be 2.2Mbps based on the latest observed provision rates for other Blast! users. (17600/2200)
I did this test numerous times and each time my upload speeds were sustained at 3Mbps or more until the upload reached 90 seconds. I was able to stop the transfer and immediately start a new one and I would see the same boost in speed for the first 90 seconds.
My downloads do not benefit from any noticeable boost. It stays at ~16Mbps for the duration of the download.
Cool! |

My new PowerBoost will gobble that up before the 90 seconds are over. In the first image I posted, you can see that at under 75 seconds I was already at 27.2 MB's, with 15 seconds of ~3Mbps PowerBoost remaining. So this entire RCN upload test would be completed with PowerBoost enabled, as it would never have a chance to throttle down before it was finished transferring. |

I'm on the standard 8/768 tier with both upload and download PB. When running the RCN test with the 29.5MB file, the PB finished before the test did, so for most users I would say it's a good test.
You seem to have a very nice and long upload PB, something which I don't think many other Comcast customers have. |
