March Speed Increase??

Anyone know if Wave plans a March speed increase this year?

In my area there are three providers to pick from, Astound/Wave, AT&T U-Verse, and Comcast. Comcast just announced 16mb down 2mb upload service in my area, U-Verse is offering 10/1.5 service.

I'm on the Wave/Astound 8mb download 768 upload plan, in this area the upload speed is capped at 500k for the 768 plan. For an additional $10 per month Wave offers 8mb down and 1.5mb upload speed.

Tonight's speed test.

Re: March Speed Increase??

Wave/Astound gave us a bump up in speed, we now have a 10mb download plan, just like the rest of Wave customers. With lots of empty homes in my neighborhood and free Wifi now being offered I would have thought evening slowdowns would be a thing of the past.

Tonights speed.

As for Washington
Looks like Port Orchard 6 and 10 meg service got bumped to 1 meg up... Wonder if all areas got it??

Thanks Wave!

Re: March Speed Increase??

We did not get an increase in upload speed.

I have 768k upload service but Wave/Astound caps the speed at 500k for customers living in the SF East Bay Area.

Re: March Speed Increase??

Ive had 385kbps up since it increased here from 128kbps a couple of years ago.

Was considering dsl for the 768kbps they offer here but wont need to now as long as things hold up here...

I hope they get your area up to your advertised speeds soon...

Yup, looks as if the Bremerton area's upload speeds are now 1 meg instead of 786K.

Re: March Speed Increase??

Speed test done a few minutes past midnight. Upload speed is the fastest I've ever tested. Hope it's not a fluke, 10mb/768k advertised speed.

Man!, those speeds remind me of the old @home days. Screaming during the day (15meg down 8meg up) to 300K down after 4pm.....

man, those are some rough speeds.

I haven't run a speedtest from home in quite some time. I peak out at about 850KB/s down and don't care much about upload speed.

I'll try to remember to do one tonight to see.

I too noticed the bump to 1Mbit upload in Port Orchard a few weeks ago. It's nice, but is this it Wave? Give us some love. I thought for sure we'd see a 16/2 or 20/5 top tier this year. Not complaining, just hoping. Otherwise I have no complaints at with service.

Hey madcow, I too would love a 20/2 package but first I would like to see a decent connection with what we have....

there you go. I clicked on it from my VNC session and disconnected from there to make sure I wasn't taking up precious bandwidth.

Poor performance. I'll have to see what plan I'm on...

Speakeasy test at 7:18 pm.

I got a letter today saying UL speed is bumped to 1 MBPS. And sure enough it's there. Problem is the DL speed sucks! I usually see about 1 or 2 MBPS when it should be 6. And it feels slower than that. I've called them numerous times about it and they act concerned but do nothing.

I have never found the Speakeasy tests to work well outside of the Speakeasy network.

Re: March Speed Increase??

So what about people like me paying extra for the 1.5 upload? I didn't get an increase and never see good speeds during peak hours. I pay for the 10/1.5 plan. Good thing I'm moving soon to a Comcast area! Hopefully, by the time I move they'll be offering their 50/5 plan!

Re: March Speed Increase??

keep in mind that comcast rates are usually 10-20% higher than wave...

I'm very content with my service here in Port Orchard. It's not spectacular by any means, but the only time I get even a little frustrated with speeds is when I'm downloading 25GB of something. Small WMVs and such that appear on websites and the like appear and buffer extremely fast. I never have any problems VPN'ing into work, nor do I have any problem using VNC from work into my home computers. The speeds are solid, but not on the bleeding edge.

Wave works for me.

It pays to stay up late! My speeds should be like this any time of day I decide to use (not abuse) my service!

No increase of upload for $65 a month 10/1.5 customers I guess :-(?
Shouldn't I be getting 2Mbps upload now for my extra $10 a month?

Thanks a bunch Wave! At least it's been somewhat stable for a while. (Obviously, not the speeds though).

East Bremerton . . .Home of the Bremilo!
10 min away from work! I won't be able able to
complain anymore :-( (I'll finally get my Comcast freebies!)
I'll still be working your area to make sure your Comcast services are in good working order Though!
To stay on topic: The past two days here in "Wave Country" have been rock solid. They've either A: Upgraded or B: A bandwidth hog in my area must have moved. Still no additional upload speed for the premium price. I guess the extra $10 is for 300kbps more then the rest of the lot get.

8:16pm pst

Re: March Speed Increase??

Speed test 11:30pm Friday night, 10mb/1mb service. Wave has increased to 1mb upload speed for Astound customers. Not sure when this increase took place.

Checking the current service plans Astound/Wave offers the 1mb upload speed with the 6mb download service plan. I'm thinking about downgrading from the 10mb/1mb to the 6mb/1mb plan. Anyone have an opinion if my speeds will get worse than my current download speed with the 10mb plan??? Not sure if it's worth the $10 extra bucks for my current 10mb speed.

Thanks in advance.

Truthfully I dont think you'd miss it if you were getting your full speeds...

I can have four machines browsing here and a voip call going easily. 6/1 ... I dont know your downloading habits however.

One thing to mention... has anyone not tried tweaking their machine that is having slow speeds all the time? It might help. There is a community here for that. I have used a tool from another site on all my stuff.
