Drew
I've given up all hope that Wave will ever fix the slowdowns. I've had several Wave techs check out things at my home, they found nothing wrong on my end.
Over a year ago I was in contact with a Manager at Wave. Last I heard he was waiting for a signature to purchase equipment to correct the problem. |

Make sure you call the technical support number for your area. If you're officially part of the Wave team and they've begun to support you, the number is 1-866-WAVE-123.
The more calls they get about it, the more likely a supervisor is to run it up the flag pole and get something done. Be polite and explain the situation. |

Its a ymmv kind of thing... Ive seen it bump up from 28.8 to 33.1 on my inlaws line a few years ago but not work on mine...
It didnt slow me down however.
I am guessing the modem can hear possible noise that the filter blocks... |

I will make the suggestion to a friend using dial-up to try using a dsl line filter. Didn't know about this trick but I haven't had dial-up for many years. |

| reply to gtojim I wasn't really directing that particular comment to you as Ive seen posts where your speeds were a little better...
Your problem is obviously a Wave issue, no doubt...
But just a general comment to anyone having issues..
Ever use a dsl line phone filter to actually increase dial-up speeds? |

My first tweaking to improve download speed was back in the DOS days with a 2400 baud modem.
No amount of tweaking on my end can fix the evening slowdowns which started shortly after Wave purchased Astound Broadband.
Wave techs that have been to my house haven't found anything wrong on my end.
Wave needs to do some tweaking on their end, but I've given up all hope that day will ever happen.

Truthfully I dont think you'd miss it if you were getting your full speeds...
I can have four machines browsing here and a voip call going easily. 6/1 ... I dont know your downloading habits however.
One thing to mention... has anyone not tried tweaking their machine that is having slow speeds all the time? It might help. There is a community here for that. I have used a tool from another site on all my stuff. |

2 edits | reply to gtojim Speed test 11:30pm Friday night, 10mb/1mb service. Wave has increased to 1mb upload speed for Astound customers. Not sure when this increase took place.
Checking the current service plans Astound/Wave offers the 1mb upload speed with the 6mb download service plan. I'm thinking about downgrading from the 10mb/1mb to the 6mb/1mb plan. Anyone have an opinion if my speeds will get worse than my current download speed with the 10mb plan??? Not sure if it's worth the $10 extra bucks for my current 10mb speed.
Thanks in advance. |

| reply to PhoneBoy East Bremerton . . .Home of the Bremilo! 10 min away from work! I won't be able able to complain anymore :-( (I'll finally get my Comcast freebies!) I'll still be working your area to make sure your Comcast services are in good working order Though! To stay on topic: The past two days here in "Wave Country" have been rock solid. They've either A: Upgraded or B: A bandwidth hog in my area must have moved. Still no additional upload speed for the premium price. I guess the extra $10 is for 300kbps more then the rest of the lot get.
